In 2008, Emerging Media Ventures acquired the rights to the Rajasthan franchise for the inception of the Indian Premier League (IPL), building the franchise from the ground up over the past 16 years.

The Rajasthan Royals are one of the 8 founding franchises of the IPL, the most valuable cricket tournament in the world. The Royals were champions of the inaugural tournament in 2008, reached the final in 2022 and the playoffs in 2024.

With roots in the culturally rich state of Rajasthan, the team are impassioned by indomitable qualities of strength, courage and fighting prowess which personify the culture and people of Rajasthan. The Rajasthan Royals play their home matches locally at the 30,000 capacity Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur.

On-field, the team is underpinned by a commitment to data analytics, through which the Rajasthan Royals seek to gain significant performance advantages and generate additional value through the player auction system.

Central to the Royals’ values is the promotion of female empowerment. This is primarily achieved through the Royal Rajasthan Foundation, the official philanthropic arm of the Rajasthan Royals, which seeks to empower women through improving their access to education, healthcare, livelihoods and water.

In 2021, Emerging Media Ventures acquired a majority stake in the Barbados Tridents, now Barbados Royals, adding the team to its growing stable of cricket franchises.

The Barbados Royals were one of the founding franchises of the Caribbean Premier League in 2013. Since then, the franchise has experienced long-term success, winning the tournament twice, in 2014 and 2019. The Women’s team are current champions - winning in 2023 & 2024.

The Barbados Royals play their home games at the historic, 28,000 capacity, Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, Barbados.

Following the acquisition by Emerging Media Ventures, the franchise was renamed the Barbados Royals to align more closely with sister franchise, the Rajasthan Royals.

In 2022, Emerging Media Ventures acquired the rights to the Paarl franchise for the inception of the SA20 tournament in South Africa.

In the inaugural edition, Paarl Royals reached the Final and in the most recent tournament in 2025 - the team finished 3rd after reaching the playoffs.

The Rajasthan Royals Academy was established by Emerging Media Ventures with the mission of transforming the way in which cricket is coached and played across the globe. The Rajasthan Royals Academy seeks to capitalise on our franchises’ reputation for unearthing young talent and giving them a platform to perform. The structure of the Academy allows for this philosophy to be taken deeper into grassroots cricket.
